Tobacco Industry 1987 – 1997 – Cyprus
Between 1987 and 1997 C. Kittis was Managing Director of the Rothmans Group in Cyprus acting as Industry and Corporate Communications spokesman on matters of Tax & Excise, Leaf Growing, Social Issues of Smoking. He founded and chaired the Tobacco Institute of Cyprus.
Tobacco Industry 1998 – 1999 – Middle East
In 1998, C. Kittis was appointed as Director for Public Affairs for the Middle East of Rothmans International (covering 28 countries) with the brief to study and recommend the necessary structure for developing the Group’s in-house Public Affairs Department. He also handled specific challenges in Israel, Jordan and Egypt (market liberalisation / advocacy campaigns).
Activities involved organising and running 'round tables', creating 'think tanks' and building alliances with other stakeholders, developing and over-seeing production of publications, organisation of and presentations to press conferences, organising and participating in public and panel discussions, authoring opinion editorials and various other activities as required by each assignment. Member of the “Euro-Team”
Mr. Kittis has been selected by the EC Representation in Cyprus and has been appointed by the DG ECFIN to be a member of the Euro Team to help with the campaign for the conversion of local currencies to the Euro in the 10 new member states.
With regard to Cyprus, Mr. Kittis was asked to co-ordinate the drafting committee to produce a detailed action plan for activities intended to provide information and educate the public as part of the national campaign to achieve a smooth conversion process.
In these activities Mr. Kittis will align his presentations, lectures and comments with the overall targets and objectives of the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of Cyprus but he will maintain and project his independent views and his own beliefs which may not necessarily reflect the views of the Government or the DG ECFIN.

Senior Counsel to the Cyprus Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (Cy.Pha.M.A.)
Mr. Kittis was engaged in November 2003 as senior counsel and spokesman of the association with a mandate on smooth compliance of its members with the new legislation harmonising the Cyprus legal environment with the European legal framework.
We established formal engagement with the pharmaceutical regulatory authorities and the Ministry of Health in an effort to ensure that registration of pharmaceutical and generic products is done in a way that will allow the Cypriot manufacturers to operate successfully under the rules of fair and free competition.
The brief included monitoring of developments, understudying legislation, preparing positioning papers / talking points, political contacts and coaching, media management, advocacy campaigns, crisis management and building up strategic alliances. The project was completed successfully by 31 December 2004.
Senior Counsel assignments for Cyprus commissioned by international and transnational organisations.
- A leading IT transnational organisation through its local legal entity has retained the services of Constantinos Kittis (for the second year running) to help in its strategic communication and public affairs planning as well as to provide political support and outreach to the various stake holders in the business (More information can be provided in response to serious queries).
- Constantinos Kittis has been engaged to help in the development of strategy and action plans for Cyprus and provide field work support as well as to act as Senior Counsel by a global strategic communications organisation in Brussels as their “local arm” in Cyprus, in carrying through pan-European campaigns or specific assignments for their clients.
So far, projects have related to Intellectual Property issues, Government outreach on issues concerning national policy on subjects dealt with by EU / EC institutions, and environmental and health issues.
